Which Career Should I Choose? Law School Or Physical Therapy..?
Posted by admin in Careers in PT on February 2, 2010
These 2 are completely different but, I think I would enjoy either. I am a young African American female and I will graduate with a 2.75-3.0 GPA meaning that if I choose Law School I will end up going to a lower ranked law school. Apparently in doing so, I run the risk of not being picked up by a private firm and making pennies opposed to real $$. In addition to that, as a minority I understand it is extremely difficult to break the glass barrier in corporate america. Physical therapy is a much safer investment but if I choose this route I will want to own my own offices and opening a business can be very risky as well. Anyone with some insight on either of these 2 career choices, I urge to leave their thoughts on the matter.
Which Profession Would You Choose Being A Physical Therapist Or Being A Pharmacist? And Why?
Posted by admin in Careers in PT on January 29, 2010
i am looking to pursue one of these careers, once i am done with high school. I like helping people and supplying them with the things necessary to feel better or get better. I wouldnt really want to be a doctor because of the long schooling and outstanding medical bills. Both pharmacy and physical therapy careers interest me. Correct me if Im wrong but it only takes about six years of school for these professions? Also how much do you think a starting annual salary would be for these professions? Not including residency.

Which Are Chiropractic Or Physical Therapy Careers More Enjoyable?
Posted by admin in Careers in PT on January 24, 2010
PT and Chiro are different professions in many ways. PT will without question offer higher job security the first 2-3 years. This is due to the fact that many healthcare facilities employ PT and very few directly hire chiropractors. The Chiro income potential is much greater than PT. You must market yourself and establish a client base to have good success in chiro. This requires you to be a pretty good marketer and willing to extend yourself beyond regular office hours. But beyond the financial aspect enjoyability will be based on your likes and dislike. I am a nurse and previously considered both opportunities. I made my decision after shadowing each opportunity. Good Luck!

Which Career Would Be Best Cosmetology Instructor Or Physical Therapy Assistant?
Posted by admin in Careers in PT on January 23, 2010
In order to get a job as a cosmetology instructor, one most likely needs a certain amount of experience in the field. It generally takes a couple of years after becoming licensed for a hairstylist to ‘get a book’ of regular customers as it is, just fyi ![]()
The PTA has to have a 2-year associate degree, have successfully completed a clinical fieldwork with an actual patient caseload and pass a licensure examination.
How about observing/job shadowing and/or volunteering in the various PT departments such as at the local hospital, nursing home/long-term care facility, physical rehab/traumatic brain injury (TBI) program, outpatient or such. The PT field may be both physically and mentally draining.
For general career info: http://www.bls.gov/oco and can search ‘barbers and cosmetologists’, ‘physical therapist assistants’ or such.
One should make sure that whichever field and program that they’re interested in is accredited within the industry.
If considering the cosmetology program, please forgo those private $$ beauty/tech schools and instead opt for the more affordable county vo-tech school (or community college as long as the program is accredited within the field.

Which Is More Enjoyable? Chiropractic Career Or Physical Therapy?

Physical therapy – because you’re actually helping people. Chiropracty is a pseudoscience – the chiropractors around here claim they can cure cancer, asthma, and AIDS, just by moving your spine around. Hint: they can’t. They are scam artists, and they know it. Get a real medical degree instead.
