Question by Amber: Do you think I’ll be able to work or am I going to be disabled?
I’m a 40 year old woman. I was in car accident in Aug 09, and fractured lumbar 1. Had bone fusion surgery in Dec. Went back to work ( a little too early, but needed $ ) in end of Jan. Two weeks later I had increased pain. Had a MRI = bulging disc of Lumbar 5. Dr started physical therapy and pain meds. A month later, my left side of body (arm and leg) had numbing and weakness with left leg dragging. MRI = bulging disc of C4 and C5 with spurring and bulging disc of T3. Dr wrote order not to work so I only worked 4 months since car accident in Aug 09. Dr started Lyrica and have traction even after his statement that “these bulges aren’t significant enough for your symptoms”. Done traction for 5 weeks and the pain in my lumbar section and NOW cervical and thoraic. Dr says to stop physical therapy and referred me to pain management clinic (in Aug). I have pain daily since the accident. Doing house chores and taking care of my kids are an effort plus the meds make me tired. In your experience, do you think I will be able to return to work?

The answer depends on what type of work you do. If you can work mostly at a sit down position, even on a computer, you may be in a good position to go back to work.
If however, your work involves you standing, lifting, walking etc.. then you should not work at that job. You should look into getting some sort of disability.
Have you tried Yoga? If you have not, it may be also a good idea to enroll in a Gentle Yoga class. Consult with your doctor first before getting into the practice; however, yoga has been known to cure many ailments, including back/neck pain due to buldging/dislocated discs.

Question by : Do you think I will get into University of Maryland-College Park?
I really would like to go here for Business Management.
Stats:
3.65 weighted GPA (Many honors classes and 1 AP class)
26 on the ACT
Obviously these aren’t the best, but I have many additions that make me a well rounded applicant:
National Honors Society
Distinguished Honor roll in 10th, 11th, and 12th grade
Ranked in the top 20% in a National Financial Capability Challenge
Chief Editor of Literary Magazine
Owner, Founder, and Operator of a Landscaping Business (pretty successful too)
Volunteer at a Physical Therapy clinic
Patrol Leader and Quarter Master in Boy Scouts
Class President
Varsity Baseball
Basketball League
Leader of a religious youth group
What do you guys think?
Thanks!!

EVERY university has its “admissions requirements” clearly posted on their website.
p.s. Colleges do NOT accept “weighted” GPA’s. Un-weighted ONLY – “weighting” is used for class ranking purposes only, relative to you comparatively against your classmates at your school, but otherwise it is useless. Think about it – why should a silly course like AP Art count more than a difficult course like a language or a math class?

Both are in demand. Both demand hard work. In Business course, you might have to compete for jobs more. Physical therapy has set jobs. There is no competition. In business, you have opportunity to make a lot of money. In physical therapy, you have set salaries.

Career Question What Do You Think About It?
Getting out of the marine corps in a few months and here’s my plan. I will attend a local community college called Palomar to study Physical Education. After my 2 years I will transfer to UC San Marcos to finish up to get my 4 degree in Physical Education. Now the reason why I am studying Physical Education because I like to coach and I wouldn’t mind being and Athletic Director. I am a High School Freshman coach and it is an awesome job during the fall.
In the mean time I also enjoy and like what a Physical Therapist does. I wouldn’t mind being a Physical Therapist helping rehabilitate injured athletes.
How should I go about doing these 2 careers? Now I know in the end I would have to make the decision but what would you do and how would you do it?
Do I get my 2 year degree in P.E. transfer and study in the Kinesiology field and take the Physical Education Option? Which I will graduate with a B.S. in Kinesiology. I can become a teacher and a coach or skip the teaching thing and coach. Which is what I would want to do so I can become a Physical Therapist.
Now how do I some what go back to school to become a PT? Becoming a PT is 1 of the options in my degree program. (Pre-Physical Therapy) I would have to further my education 2 and 1/2 more years but I will be doing what I like to do.
Or should I become a P.E. teacher to have a job and work towards my new degree to be a PT. Put in a lot of work at a school to become and AD. When the summer flies around and I’m not working being a full time PT would be my summer job??????
Thanks for the help…I see the school counselors in a few days. Just want to see what the world of answers/yahoo/com thinks?????http://www2.csusm.edu/kinesiology/ for more info….
Do You Think This Is A Funny Idea?

I work at a physical therapy clinic and they said we could dress up for Halloween tomorrow as long as it is tasteful. So, I thought about wearing a solid colored scrub uniform and pinning a bunch of socks on it and going as “static cling” What do you think? Dumb or funny? Or if you have another suggestion let me know!
