I have a few questions about this career, I’m considering pursuing it.

Do you think it is going to still be prominent in the next couple years?

What are the pay advantages and disadvantages?

Any interesting information you have about this profession?

Thanks a lot. You obviously can answer as many of the questions as you feel. Thank you for your time.

According to the bureau of labor and statistics, the field of physical therapy is expected to grow “much faster than average” (more than 26%) through 2014.

The payscale is comfortable. The last major survery was completed in 2005 which revealed that most PTs were earning between $ 50-70,000 a year. Yet, the scale is broad with still another 25% earning more than that.

This profession requires you to be a good problem sovler and be able to analyze different situations. You must really enjoy and be comfortable around people.

In the US, it now requires a master’s degree or a doctorate level degree and entrance into PT programs is generally comeptitive. Meaning, just because you meet the minimum requirements does not mean you will be accepted into the program. The APTA has a good section for students on their website at: http://www.apta.org and go to the educational programs section.

The only bad things I predict for the field is if we get a national health care plan. If so, I think a lot of PTs will loose their jobs as the government tries to regulate who gets PT and who doesn’t. The same can be said about any health care professional. The same thing happened when Clinton reformed Medicare…although it needed to be done, many people lost their jobs until they “go the kinks worked out.” So, even if they do, the pendulum will eventually swing back and the job will be in demand again.

Questions about the physical therapy career?

Question by : Questions about the physical therapy career?
Hi, I have done my research and I’m 99% sure that physical therapy is the career for me. I know that the degree takes 7 years to get but is that after you get your AA? And is it like a doctors degree as to where you go to college for 5 years then intern for 5 years? (I know that doctor thing is not correct but you get my point)

Thanks for the help. Planning out my future isn’t as easy as I though it would be.

It is about three years after you complete your BS degree. So if you finish in 4 year than it will take you 7 years to become a DPT. A residency or fellowship is not requires as an MD completes but it is an option.

Physical Therapy Aide… A Few Questions About The Job?

I’m an exercise physiology student from the University of Massachusetts – Lowell. I’m very interested in pursuing a career as a doctor in physical therapy in the future. I figured that I would start learning more about the field through a physical therapy aide job.
As a physical therapist, how would you like a student present himself or herself asking for a job? Do you like it when he or she asks straight out if there is a PT aide job, or would you like a full introduction of themselves? Would you recommend a resume? This is my first PT aide job. I did have some medical experience (volunteer job) at a cancer center. Give me as much information about this!!

A Few Questions About Junior Colleges?

So I plan on going to a junior college for 2 years and transferring to a larger university. Partly because I have to because of my horrible grades during my freshman and sophomore year, and plus, I want to get used to the college scene before being chewed up and spit out. My question is, I want to major in Chemistry (I want to be a forensic pathologist), but I don’t know what classes to take at a JuCo. Here are examples from one college:
Business Administration
Criminal Justice
Entertainment Management
Medical Assisting
Physical Therapy Assistant
Early Child Education
Health Studies
Retail Business Management
Management
Entrepreneurship
Fashion Design
Fashion Merchandising
Accelerated Degree Program
Which one would I look into? I’m so confused right now. If you need more information, ask me. thanks!

Some Health Care Career Questions?

I had been, for quite a while, planning on going to college for nursing. Recently, though, I was at the Cleveland Clinic with my Anatomy class and I found Physical Therapy and Occupational Therapy interesting. Now I’m caught between the two and I’m not sure how to decide.
Could anyone give me some pros and cons and info or something on both fields and your opinion?

Physical Therapy As A Career Questions!?

I am looking and really interested into going into physical therapy. At first, I liked the idea of being a nurse, and then realized all of the blood involved. I absolutley cannot deal with blood, but I like the health field and helping others, so I thought being a physical therapist would be great for me (and I love anatomy as well).. so this question is for anyone who pursued physical therapy or has a family or friend who went through this masters program..
Is there alot or any blood at all while going to school(i.e. do you have to watch videos of surgeries, or look at actual corpses?) and at the actual job site, is there a lot of blood you have to deal with as well? I know you will be dealing with injuries and wounds and there may be blood, and I am ok with that… If you don’t reccomend it for me, is there any other good paying careers that you would suggest in the health fields? Thanks!

I Have Some Questions Regarding A Physical Therapy Career Path? Help!?

Lets start by saying that I would like to be a physical therapist (at some point!) and I am currently enrolled in a community college, they do have a Pre physical therapy program.. I was wondering if i should take this route and then get a bachelors in something, and then move on to an accredited physical therapy program. I know they don’t really offer BS PT anymore. OR should I just get a general AA and do all my pre reqs at a 4 year university/college, and then continue to PT program?
Or can anyone tell me what I SHOULD be doing, if this is wrong? I’m a bit confused!
Also, will the fact that I attended a community college affect my chances of getting into a competitive physical therapy program?
Sorry that was so much writing! I just want to figure this stuff out!
Thanks in advance!
