Which Is A Better Career? Physical Therapist? Occupational Therapist?
Posted by admin in Careers in PT on February 16, 2010
I’m very fickle about deciding once and for all on a major and everything. I’m fairly certain that I want to be in the health field, and I’m currently enrolled for Health and Sciences, which is broad and helps prepare for more schooling. I don’t know whether I’d like Physical Therapy or Occupational Therapy more. Or even recreational Therapy. I’m just going by a career aptitude test I took a while ago, and all of those are listed.. along with Chiropractor. and others. I know nursing isn’t for me already. Anyone have some advice? I haven’t even been in a health setting really because I’ve never been sick with anything. BAH!

Is It Possible To Get A Joint Masters Degree In Occupational And Physical Therapy?
Posted by admin in Careers in PT on January 25, 2010
Is there a such thing as getting one masters degree in two years for two different but related majors? Kind of like a double major except it is for a master’s degree. I want to pursue careers in physical and occupational therapy, but I don’t want to stay in school for 4 whole years when the two majors are so closely related. If this is possible, what schools offer this and where are they? Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks.
How To Find Out More About Physical And Occupational Therapy Careers?
Posted by admin in Careers in PT on January 23, 2010
I’m a college sophmore interested in one of these two fields, but I’m not sure which one I want to go into. Can anyone tell me some information about what it’s like to be in these careers, from experience please, or give me hints about how I could find out more about them. Would someone in a hospital setting allow me to ask them some questions maybe or shadow them for a day? Also, what is the level of dealing with wounds/injuries in these two fields. Thanks

Physical, Occupational, And Speech Therapy Icd-9 Codes….?
Posted by admin in Careers in PT on January 16, 2010
I work for a Physical Rehab Clinic in Miami, and I use ICD-9 codes very often. I want to create a “shortcut” sheet for my coworkers and I, but I can’t seem to find one already made online, or a format to follow.
I have a couple ideas, but very little time to create a master pieceeeeee.
Give me sitessss, or your own work to start off with.
Thankssssssss
School Occupational And Physical Therapy?
Posted by admin in Careers in PT on January 15, 2010
Anyone here with kids that get OT and PT at school. If so , how do u get them out of school therapy and into outpatient therapy instead. I am very dissatified with my child’s “so called” therapy in school . She really needs therapy especially OT. She has been very sick in the past and now she is weak on her left side because of this. She was getting all the therapies during the summer in the hospital and they did very well with her but now that school is in, she cannot go to the hospital anymore because they dont have afternoon hours.
I have a clinic set up for her that is open in the evenings (just found out about it) but I was told that you cant get therapy in school and as an outpatient at the same time. So now I want to get her out of the school therapy because they are not helping at all. Thanks in advance.
What Is A Better Career In Everyone’s Opinion Occupational Therapy Or Physical Therapy?
Posted by admin in Careers in PT on January 11, 2010
I would like to know what everyone thinks about the two careers and which one is better. What are advantages and disadvantages, salary, stress factors, schedules, of each career? I plan on working in Pediatrics? Which career takes, requires more stamina and physical energy? I have heard that in physical therapy strains to the back can occur, back injuries and other factors. I have to decide on a major really soon and I need a little help. Anything will be appreciated!!!!!
Occupational Therapy Assistant And Physical Therapy Assistants- Is This A Good Career?
Posted by admin in Careers in PT on January 10, 2010
I need help to determine if this is the right career for me…Do you like your jobs? Is it exciting or does it become mundane after a while? What age groups do you primarily work with? What is your hourly wage? Do you work in a hospital or clinic? Do you wish you became a straight OT or PT instead?
I’m An Occupational Therapy Major. What Is An Appropriate Minor For Me To Choose?
I’m going to school to be an occupational therapist, and my program allows me to obtain a minor. I’m thinking about either biology, psychology, Montessori education, or pre-physical therapy minor. Any suggestions?
