Question by : I financed a car through HBC bank and have had a horrible experience and desperately need advice?
I am feeling really trapped and need advice desperately. To begin with- I was in a car accident(not my fault) 3 months ago and the truck I was leasing from a private owner was totaled, I have since been thought 2 months of physical therapy and numerous doctor and chiropractic visits and have been on pain meds and muscle relaxers the whole time clouding my judgment. I also have poor credit, so I went to a local car dealership and purchased a car. The only choice I could use to finance the car was through HBC. I drove the car for 2 weeks before being called by the dealership(using deception to get me back in) and told that bank does not finance Suzuki’s at all because of resale value. They put me in another car for 2 more weeks and this times was denied because of the car having too many miles on it.(again I was misled in order to come into the dealership) I have now been driving my current car(which I hate, but was desperate for transportation to work) for 1 month and after putting down over a $ 1,000, I feel trapped. I am in over my head and am currently overdrawn at my bank, and the first payment is due this week. Is there any way out of all of this while still getting my down payment back?

Question by : Do I need a highschool diploma to get an education towards a career in physical therapy?
I want to go back to school to study for Physical Therapy or Physical Therapy Assistant, but I only have a GED will my lack of a HS Diploma impede my chances at higher learning? Also I live in Las Vegas Nevada.

When a career necessitates a degree (such as PT does), what matters is that you have the college degree. If you can get that, no one cares how (or if) you finished high school. Contrary to popular thought, you don’t even need a high school diploma/GED to be admitted to community colleges (and many state universities, too)….even if you are well passed the high school age.
Princess….again…you don’t need a high school diploma or GED to be admitted to colleges/universities! What they care about are your SAT/ACT scores…not whether or not you have a diploma or GED…regarding that though…….it really depends on the college or university you are applying to. Each sets its own enrollment policies. Some require a high school diploma or GED certificate, while others may not depending on your academic history. If you are having trouble being accepted, consider taking a few courses at a local community college. They usually have less rigid entrance requirements, and many, many colleges and universities will accept you with good grades

Question by : What kind of contract or release form would I need?
I would like to take pictures of patients at a physical therapy center posing with my two therapy dogs. The owners of the therapy center have agreed if I have either a release form or contract that the patients have to sign. What kind would I need and can I write it up myself?

You want to use a standard model consent and release form. Some argue that for the contract to be valid a real-sum transaction must take place, so often $ 1 is the stated amount, and a signature must always be obtained. It’s also good to attach a polaroid photo of the subject to the contract if you’re shooting a lot of folks for release.
Here’s a standard release. (In reality, as long as you get the signature you’re pretty much good to go…):
MODEL RELEASE

Help Please!!! I Need To Summarize This Paragraph And Don’t Know How. ?
I need to summarize this paragraph and don’t know how. Just started school after 17 years of break and don’t remember ever summarizing any article. Never had to do any in bilingual classes. Please help!!
Osteoarthritis is a degenerative disease that leads to the breakdown of the cartilage in joints. In people with osteoarthritis, exercise helps maintain good joint health, manage symptoms and prevent functional decline. But studies have shown that the benefits of a structured exercise program are short-lived. The beneficial effects usually fade soon after participation in the program ends. The occupational therapy program in this study was designed to educate osteoarthritis patients about joint protection, proper body mechanisms, activity pacing, and environmental barriers. The participants of the current study were divided into two groups. The first group participated in a structured exercise program and the occupational therapy program. The second group participated in the same exercise program, but received health education in place of the occupational therapy. Only the group that engaged in occupational therapy increased the intensity of
physical activity at the end of the study.
Life/career Change- Need Advice, Please. Should I Venture Into A Small Business Or Go Back To School For Pt?
I am 43 yrs. old. I have a BA in Linguistics and a Masters in Special Education. I have worked in the school system for 10 yrs. in the field of Special Ed. and am completely burnt out…too much paperwork and politics. I need to earn a living, but can not see myself teaching long term. I had thought of doing some type of small business (health products, maybe) but don’t know where to start. Also have considered returning to college to get a degree in physical therapy or the like. But, I do not really want to spend the time and money getting another degree. I am a natural writer …but not sure if that can sustain me in the present. Any suggestions or helpful advice….thanks in advance for your comments!

Posted by admin in Careers in PT on February 4, 2010
I was hurt on the job last year, i injured my hand by tearing my legiments in my right hand, and the pain is so horrible now, a year later, and l&i are being complete jerks about this, they decided to cut my pain clinic medical help and wont pay for my medicine anymore, I talked to a nurse at the University of Washington where i got my surgery last march, and she said l&i decided to send me to a rehability center in Seattle, which is a ferry ride away from my house which if forever away to me, to take care of my medical needs, she said i will get an small apartment and $60,000 worth of medical costs along with physical therapy and medical attention including medicine, but im completely lost and they are sending me a borchoure within the next few days, but what i dont understand is why are they going to pay that much money for this when they wouldnt even cover small amount of costs from medical care in my town whats your outlook on this? anyone been to a rehab for injury matters?
Lgbt Ignorant People’s Education. I Need Opinions!!?
I am doing a presentation on being sensitive to others with a sexual orientation different than your own. It is for grad students in physical therapy. Some have never known an LGBT. Weird, huh?
Anyway, I was hoping that ya’ll could share some stories or experiences, or anything you feel is important for these people to know. Here are some examples of questions
+Have you ever been offended by a healthcare worker? What happened?
+Do you feel it is appropriate for a healthcare worker to ask your orientation? How can they do that in a nonoffensive way?
+Have you ever been discriminated against? What happened?
+Do you believe that this presentation is necessary?
+Are there any other things you feel a person ignorant to LGBT shoud know?
Thank you for your answers. If you are uncomfortable posting, you can feel free to email me
Do You Need A License To Do Acupressure If You Are A Chiropractor?
I am curious because I am considering become a Chiropractor, and right now I am learning acupressure. I wonder if you need a seperate license as a massage therapist? Or is it legal without a license because you are already licensed to use physical contact to treat people, and forcing you to get another license is redudant? Obviously, you would have to get a massage therapy education as well, but I am curious of the licensing aspect. Thanks for reading!
