Life/career Change- Need Advice, Please. Should I Venture Into A Small Business Or Go Back To School For Pt?

I am 43 yrs. old. I have a BA in Linguistics and a Masters in Special Education. I have worked in the school system for 10 yrs. in the field of Special Ed. and am completely burnt out…too much paperwork and politics. I need to earn a living, but can not see myself teaching long term. I had thought of doing some type of small business (health products, maybe) but don’t know where to start. Also have considered returning to college to get a degree in physical therapy or the like. But, I do not really want to spend the time and money getting another degree. I am a natural writer …but not sure if that can sustain me in the present. Any suggestions or helpful advice….thanks in advance for your comments!

Will I Ever Be Able To Go Back Into Heavy Exercising?

I was injured in car accidents. In one accident I think I was knocked out, and began to vomit profusely. I had to be observed. I don’t even remember my head hitting the dash, as was evidenced by the red mark on my face. Now years later the injuries can be seen, so far they can only see 2 degenerated discs, I have found that osteo arthritis can take at least 10 years to develop, I have also been told I have arthritis, scar tissue, and at one time been told I can’t exercise because it could flare up my muscles; I suspect that the discs and scar tissues are flaring up the muscles, nerves, ligaments, tendons. The pain is up and down my spine, neck vertebrae, and causes headaches. I am being referred to physical therapy and pain management clinic and having a follow up with my doctor.
Those times when I exercise these days, it seems to make it worse, and so does the weather. But there were times I exercised in certain periods over the years and felt fairly good….

Is Physical Therapy A Good Career To Get Into?

Physical therapy is a job that recently was rated one of the top three most satisfying careers, according to a University of Chicago survey.
The bureau of labor and statistics lists the job to grow “much faster than average”.
Although PTs are rarely considered “wealthy,” they tend to make a comfortable salary with good benefits…especially if you work for a healthcare organization.

Career Change Into Physical Therapy?

I will be getting my B.A. in public health…and I’ve been looking at physical therapy. What is difference between a PT and a DPT? Also…there are many DPT-entry programs for those who already have a bachelor’s degree…is this program worth 3 years or is getting masters just as good?

Can I Get Into Physical Therapy School?!?

I volunteered at one private clinic so far, 36 hours and am about to begin hospital volunteering, and in the summer a nursing home. I got a B- in both bios, a B in Chem and A- in the other chem. I have yet to take physics, anatomy, and physiology but will take couple over the summer and in the fall. However, my overall G.P.A for my Psych classes s a 2.3! But this semester Im striving for all A’s and definitly think I am improving! If I obtain all A’s now, and in the summer, my g.p.a will probably be about a 3.1. What are my chances of getting into PT? My science G.P.A seems ok, but my overall g.p.a is low because i got C’s in non science classes. If I improve, will I still have a chance to get in? Id appreciate HONEST ANSWERS. Or please offer me advice on what else I could do. Im taking my GRE’s in August. Please help!!! I really want to get in!!

Athletic Training Degree Good For Getting Into Physical Therapy School?

I am currently planning on majoring in Athletic Training in college, and I was wondering if that would be a good major for getting me into a master’s physical therapy program?
If not athletic training, what other majors would be good to prepare me for a career in physical therapy??
Thanks!

What Are My Chances Of Getting Into The Uic Gppa Program For Physical Therapy?

I’ve gotten a 30 on my ACT and my GPA is 4.7/4.0 (Yeah.. it’s higher than 4.0 because I’ve taken honors and AP classes). I’m ranked 3rd in my class out of about 365 students. I have approximately 80 volunteer hours between volunteering at a physical therapy clinic, guided study tutoring at my high school, and at the public library. I’ve been learning karate for 3 years and will be testing for my black belt this January. I’ve won 2 events at one of my karate tournaments a couple years ago. I’m in approx. 6 clubs at school (mathletes, HOSA, and Robotics, just to name a few). I can still take the ACT one last time this September, but I absolutely DON’T want to take it unless my score of 30 is too low. Should I retake it or will I be fine with my current credentials? I’m looking for answers preferably from someone actually IN the PT GPPA program at UIC, or any other direct PT program in universities in the Midwest. Please and Thank You :]
