Do I need a highschool diploma to get an education towards a career in physical therapy?

Question by : Do I need a highschool diploma to get an education towards a career in physical therapy?
I want to go back to school to study for Physical Therapy or Physical Therapy Assistant, but I only have a GED will my lack of a HS Diploma impede my chances at higher learning? Also I live in Las Vegas Nevada.

When a career necessitates a degree (such as PT does), what matters is that you have the college degree. If you can get that, no one cares how (or if) you finished high school. Contrary to popular thought, you don’t even need a high school diploma/GED to be admitted to community colleges (and many state universities, too)….even if you are well passed the high school age.

Princess….again…you don’t need a high school diploma or GED to be admitted to colleges/universities! What they care about are your SAT/ACT scores…not whether or not you have a diploma or GED…regarding that though…….it really depends on the college or university you are applying to. Each sets its own enrollment policies. Some require a high school diploma or GED certificate, while others may not depending on your academic history. If you are having trouble being accepted, consider taking a few courses at a local community college. They usually have less rigid entrance requirements, and many, many colleges and universities will accept you with good grades

Homebound Education?

If you get that are you not allowed to leave your house because is says
Homebound education is a service for students
who, for severe physical or severe emotional
reasons, are unable to participate in any activities
outside the home beyond appointments, medical
tests and therapy.
Does this mean im not able to go out the eat with my family oe go anywhere or do anything
My therpist suggested i do this but she also wants me not to be stuck in the house she wants me to get out the house and join things…so with the homebound education am i allowed to leave my house
I have severe Anxitey, deppression and OCD this is why i can not attend sccool

School Psychologist Or Degree In Special Education?

I’m getting ready to apply to grad schools but am unsure of what I want to focus on. My B.S. is in Human Development and Family Studies with a focus on childhood.
I am interested in working with children that have special needs but I do NOT want to be a teacher. I prefer one to one or small groups. I also like the idea of coming up with behavior/treatment plans for the children to focus on their needs. Therapist positions or Early Intervention appeal to me (not so much physical or occupational therapy. More on the behavioral/developmental side of things.) And although it’s not my top priority, salary is a concern of mine.
What Master’s degree would be most beneficial?

how to hypnotize someone

Lgbt Ignorant People’s Education. I Need Opinions!!?

I am doing a presentation on being sensitive to others with a sexual orientation different than your own. It is for grad students in physical therapy. Some have never known an LGBT. Weird, huh?
Anyway, I was hoping that ya’ll could share some stories or experiences, or anything you feel is important for these people to know. Here are some examples of questions
+Have you ever been offended by a healthcare worker? What happened?
+Do you feel it is appropriate for a healthcare worker to ask your orientation? How can they do that in a nonoffensive way?
+Have you ever been discriminated against? What happened?
+Do you believe that this presentation is necessary?
+Are there any other things you feel a person ignorant to LGBT shoud know?
Thank you for your answers. If you are uncomfortable posting, you can feel free to email me

Is There Anything I Can Do? Having Trouble With Nys Department Of Education?

I have a green card, and did my physical therapy college in Brazil. NYS is evaluating my credentials so I can have a license
I have MORE credit hours than an American physical therapist. I have all the course work necessary to practice in NYS. However my license is being held back because I don’t have my diplome. The same was requested to the Brazilian authorities but they can take up to a year to give it to me.
I understand that the diploma is an important document that shows when the student graduated, and which degree was awarded. However, I already presented to their office 3 other formal, legal, and notarized documents containing this same information.
I spoke with another 2 Brazilian physical therapist, who applied for a license in NYS at the same time as me, and already got her license even though they NEVER presented their diploma.
If my transcripts say I have more course work than I need, and there is legal proof that I graduate in Brazil, why wait a year for a paper?

Parents Of Special Education / Autistic Child?? Help?

I’m going to tell you exactly what happened. Please help me figure this out.
August 24- I received a call from The Speech Patholgist from the school saying they wanted to test my 3 year old for Autism (I had requested it).
Aug 25- My husband took my daughter to the school and they did some testing (which I have no clue what test it was and my husband said they played with blocks, picked out colors, basic stuff) and they gave my husband a questionairre. He told me that evening that he couldn’t really see it and he didn’t understand some of the questions.
Aug 26- The Speech Path came to my classroom and gave me a questionairre and reviewed my husbands. I told her he really didn’t “get” most of it and couldn’t see some of the questions. OK, on the form I filled out, if she scored above an 85 she has Autism. Her score was a 150. I was immediately terrified and I asked the lady, “So, this means she’s got Autism???” And she said, “Yes.” She told me that we could have speech therapy, occupational therapy and physical therapy in the home, home trainings, LOTS of resources and support.
Sept 4–My daughter had another test with the school Psychologist.
Sept 8–The school Psychologist pops into my classroom during my conference period and tells me that they need to complete the rest of the test on my daughter on Friday. I asked her the results of the testing so far and she didn’t know. I asked, “Did it show that she has Autism?” She said, “Well, yeah.” SOOOOOO….
YESTERDAY—I took off work and went with my husband to have the second part of the test. Here’s what happened. They did not have ANYTHING ready. I mean, if the test called for cut-out letters, they couldn’t find them. If they needed a cup, they had to stop the testing and find them. One part of the test called for some clothing, spoons, toothbrush and something else and they NEVER DID FIND THOSE THINGS, so I don’t even know how they could have scored it.
When they were done they told my husband and I that she is going to be categorized as Non-Categorical Early Childhood with a Suspicion of Autism and Speech Impairment. So, I was PI$$ED. I said, “But you told me she had Autism.” They they crawfished and backpedaled saying that they didn’t diagnose her and I said AGAIN that they had TOLD ME IT WAS AUTISM. Then they started talking about getting a diagnosis through a doctor. I was FLOORED. I bought 6 books THE DAY the woman told me it was Autism. I’ve been researching my **** off trying to figure out which services she needs. THEN they said that she would receive services at school. I’m confused. What happened from they time they said she had Autism to now? I don’t get it. Help please??????

I Am An Art/bio Double Major. Should I Continue With These Degrees Or Switch To Art Education?

I’m going into my junior year in college. Right now, I still am not 100% sure of what I want to do. Right now, I’m pre-physical therapy. I’ve thought about OT, illustration, and graphic design. I’ve always thought working for a zoo or museum creating posters, pamphlets and such would be great! Any insight?
Anyway, I was considering switching to art ed, but I would be in school for at least another semester. My concern is, however, the pay isn’t very good, I haven’t taken a single education class and it’s hard to find a job. I enjoy working with kids. I really like to see their eyes light up when they “get it.” I work with kids all the time at horse camps and I’ve worked at other camps (various sports, art, etc). I can get frustrated with the trouble makers, but I figure that’s normal for any teacher.
What would you do?
