Medical Graduate Programs With A Business Degree?
After 18 years in the auto industry and yet another bad layoff, I have concluded that I made a horrible career decision long ago. Once upon a time, I had a dream of pursuing a medical education in college (perhaps physical or occupational therapy), but somewhere down the line I went with my second choice and obtained a Business Admin degree. My question now is this: What can I reasonably look at as far as a career change and reschooling (possibly in a master’s program)? Can I even be accepted into say a physician assistant program with a business background, or am I stuck on this deadend path indefinitely?
Suggestions On Approaching A Degree In Physical Therapy?
Posted by admin in Careers in PT on February 21, 2010
I know for certain that this is ABSOLUTELY the career that I want to get into- but being a senior in Highschool this year I have no idea how to approah doing so. What school to attend, whether or not I should go for the doctoral or if I could go for the masters and THEN get my doctorate later, or what to do as my minor if PT is my major. SO lost. Any tips or helpful hints would be fantastic.

School Psychologist Or Degree In Special Education?
I’m getting ready to apply to grad schools but am unsure of what I want to focus on. My B.S. is in Human Development and Family Studies with a focus on childhood.
I am interested in working with children that have special needs but I do NOT want to be a teacher. I prefer one to one or small groups. I also like the idea of coming up with behavior/treatment plans for the children to focus on their needs. Therapist positions or Early Intervention appeal to me (not so much physical or occupational therapy. More on the behavioral/developmental side of things.) And although it’s not my top priority, salary is a concern of mine.
What Master’s degree would be most beneficial?
Which Undergrad Degree Is The Most Versatile?
My college offers the following degree programs:
Biology / Biotechnology
Business Administration and Economics
Chemistry
Communication Sciences and Disorders
Communication
Computer Science
Criminal Justice
Education
Health Science
History & Political Science
Languages & Literature
Mathematics
Nursing
Occupational Therapy
Philosophy
Physical and Earth Sciences
Psychology
Sociology
Urban Studies
Visual and Performing Arts
Women’s Studies
Of these, which area of study would be the most flexible and allow me a large window of career opportunities? I am not a math or science person so please don’t pick any of the sciences, nursing, or math. I think I would like to work with the elderly in some way, possible as an Activities Director/Coordinator or an Events Planner. Thanks for your help.
Distance Learning Offered For An Associate’s Degree As A Physical Therapist Assistant?
I am currently attending Tidewater Community College in Virginia. In about a year, I planned on applying for the Physical Therapy Assistant. It’s about 4 semesters long. However, none of the PTH classes are offered online and from past semesters it looks like the different courses that are required each semester seem to be only offered once per semester… So, if I take the classes in the outline that is required, my classes will be sporadic and I will absolutely have no time to continue my full-time work.
My question is,… are there any LEGIT universities which offer distance learning and Physical Therapy classes which would count towards the degree, online? I understand that towards the end of taking the required classes I will have to do clinicals, that is perfectly fine… however I am looking to see if there is a better option for me right now.
I attended ODU for one year, and TCC is much more suitable for me because it does offer many online classes, (just no PTH classes)… which is why I transferred (as a side note.)
Any information will be greatly appreciated.
And please do not mention Phoenix University… I personally know someone who was scammed through pursuing their education with this “company.”
Is It Possible To Get A Joint Masters Degree In Occupational And Physical Therapy?
Posted by admin in Careers in PT on January 25, 2010
Is there a such thing as getting one masters degree in two years for two different but related majors? Kind of like a double major except it is for a master’s degree. I want to pursue careers in physical and occupational therapy, but I don’t want to stay in school for 4 whole years when the two majors are so closely related. If this is possible, what schools offer this and where are they? Any feedback would be appreciated, thanks.
Athletic Training Degree Good For Getting Into Physical Therapy School?
Posted by admin in Careers in PT on January 19, 2010
I am currently planning on majoring in Athletic Training in college, and I was wondering if that would be a good major for getting me into a master’s physical therapy program?
If not athletic training, what other majors would be good to prepare me for a career in physical therapy??
Thanks!
