Question by : What is the best major to have towards a physical therapy career?
How long do you have to stay in a physical therapy program after your bachelor’s?
What kind of classes do you take?
Is there a lot of math?
I REALLY need these questions answered before I sign in February…..

You can major in anything you want for your bachelor’s as long as you complete the PT school pre-reqs. However, most people major in Biology, Exercise Science, Athletic Training, Kinesiology…. somewhere along those lines just because it is similar to PT and you can complete most of your pre-reqs in those programs.
PT is a doctorate program… depending on the graduate school you go to, you’ll complete the program normally in 3 years (sometimes more sometimes less) after your bachelor’s.
You’ll be taking a lot of science classes… A LOT…. physics, chemistry, biology, anatomy, physiology, etc.
There is some math, but not a ton like with engineering and such.
good luck

Health Care Jobs. Which Is Best?
I am planning to go back to school and pursue a job in health care. I went to Ross Medical Education Center and graduated last March. I have still not been able to find a job. I want to get a bachelors degree, or a 4 year degree. I was just wondering what job possibilities I have and which health care jobs pay the most. What kind of education do I need to me a CRNA (nurse to the anesthesiologist), Physicains Assistant, Physical Therapy Assistant, Registered Nurse (RN), Nurse Practitioner, and Dietitian. Which pays best?
Thanks in advance

What Would Be The Best Job I Can Get Making Over 65,000 Without A Doctorate ?
I am 16 years old i’m thinking about what would be my best occupation……i would love to make over 100,000 a year but….i know you need lots of education(doctors, lawyers, etc) for that.
I’m really into Physical Fitness but personal Trainers don’t make that much money as far as i know……i want to make over 65,000 a year but my dream would be to make over 100,000 a year…….help me out….
Should I go into physical therapy (i’m really into this) or something oh and I don’t want to be a nurse. I know this is complex but…..i would really like to know.
Best Pre-med // University Course?
Now, i asked a similar question a few months ago but…well here i am again…
I want to do a health science course which will be pre-med (so i can continue on to be a doctor) however if i wish not to be a doctor i need to be able to be employed with the degree that i chose…so it needs to be a good fallback degree too… and an absolute must: It must be something which i can go international with (i’ll be working in another country)… so heres the choices…
1. Nursing (On the job training..practical…in demand in all western countries…I’m male, so a male nurse is kinda =/ )
2.Medical Technology (Great in depth lectures and topics to ready me for med proper, employment opportunities not great but could perhaps work as a pathologist?)
3. Pharmacy (Good for premed, learn all about drugs & how they effect the body… Employment opportunities abroad are great … but to be recogonized and registered abroad is very very difficult…so theres risks..)
4. Physical Therapy ( Great for premed, you learn anatomy, anatomy and more anatomy! But i do not know if theres any demand for this abroad and i believe higher education would be needed.. i am unsure if a physical therapist and a physio are the same thing either.)
Please! Someone help! I’ve been thinking this over for months and i really cannot get past these 3 as they all have pro’s and con’s

Which Career Would Be Best Cosmetology Instructor Or Physical Therapy Assistant?
Posted by admin in Careers in PT on January 23, 2010
In order to get a job as a cosmetology instructor, one most likely needs a certain amount of experience in the field. It generally takes a couple of years after becoming licensed for a hairstylist to ‘get a book’ of regular customers as it is, just fyi ![]()
The PTA has to have a 2-year associate degree, have successfully completed a clinical fieldwork with an actual patient caseload and pass a licensure examination.
How about observing/job shadowing and/or volunteering in the various PT departments such as at the local hospital, nursing home/long-term care facility, physical rehab/traumatic brain injury (TBI) program, outpatient or such. The PT field may be both physically and mentally draining.
For general career info: http://www.bls.gov/oco and can search ‘barbers and cosmetologists’, ‘physical therapist assistants’ or such.
One should make sure that whichever field and program that they’re interested in is accredited within the industry.
If considering the cosmetology program, please forgo those private $$ beauty/tech schools and instead opt for the more affordable county vo-tech school (or community college as long as the program is accredited within the field.
