Best Military Branch For Continuing Education?
I’m a 23 yr old new grad. Well, I’ll be one this December. I’ve majored in Business Administration from UNC-Greensboro. but realized that this job market sucks. I’m interested in going to Physical Therapy School. But, that would be another year of pre-requisite classes on top of another 2-3 for graduate school. So, I’ve got to find a way to pay for this schooling since I had a soccer scholarship that payed for most of my undergraduate. I’m not really looking for the military to be my career…just a way to help pay for school. I’ve got 16K in Student loans.
So, with all that in mind which branch offers the most in terms of continuing education benefits? Which branch is least likely to be deployed? Should I pursue being an officer or enlisted? Any info. or guidance on the subject would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.
How Can I Organize My Computer Files Better?
I work in a hospital marketing department and create in-house marketing collateral (design & publications)… I am trying to organize hundreds if not thousands of files into manageable folders. I am lost on where to begin. Should I organize the files into folders based on the deparments (ie- cancer center, Physical therapy etc) and then place all my files under each folder? OR Should I create a folder system based on what type of file it is (ads, flyers, posters, business cards) and then put the departments under each of those? I hope I am making sense.
If anyone has any good ideas or has dealt with something like this I’d appreciate any advise! ![]()
I have over 60 deparments many of which I design and create marketing peices for.
Ugh! I Still Can’t Decide On A Major … ?
So, I’m currently a college senior (I know I know) who is still having issues deciding which degree to pursue. I was pre-med until my organic chemistry kicked my butt. After the beat-down, I decided to switch my major to business. Currently, I’m majoring in finance, but I’m not exactly sure how I feel about it. I suppose I’m somewhat apathetic towards it, as I neither hate finance nor love it. I’m also currently playing around with several other ideas, which include: advertising, logistics, marketing, nursing, and physical therapy. However, my parents (well, my dad mostly) want me to become a pharmacist (mostly because it pays so well). I suppose I wouldn’t mind doing pharmacy, except for the fact that I absolutely suck at chemistry (and I’m not sure if I could stand to be a pill-pusher for the next 40 years of my life – no offense to anyone who is a pharmacist or who wants to become one). I’m considering getting a business degree along with completing the pre-reqs necessary to apply to physical therapy school. I’m still unsure, though, about which business degree is right for me (advertising, finance, logistics, marketing, etc.). I then start worrying about what will happen if I don’t get into physical therapy school or if I end up not liking it. And nursing seems somewhat appealing as well. UGH! I’m so confused! Does anyone have any tips on I can go about figuring things out?? Thanks!

Need Advice On A New Career?
Here is my dilema: I am burnt out, I need a new job, and I also need to find a career.
For ten years, I have been at several jobs, all of which involved appointment setting, the call center and telesales (to various degrees). Talking on the phones all day long and dealing with demanding and unreasonable people has finally taken it’s toll. I have been in my current postion as a mortgage loan officer for over five years and there is the constant threat of being written up or fired for not meeting sales goals and the ever constant change in the compensation (my income has dropped drastically to the point that I am beginning to live from paycheck to pay check–and I have always lived within my means).
I have a BA in English Lit. I really do not know what kind of field I want to go into, but I have to get out of the mortgage business. I really do not want to teach because the Michigan Public Schools are horrible: the teachers are always getting laid off and the pay is ridiculous. All I know is that sales is too stressful for me and I need to find a new position–but more importantly, a new career.
The problem is that I do not know what I want to do with my life. I am in my 30′s and feel like I am having a mid-life crisis. I have researched positions like becoming a professor (takes too long and not enough pay), Med or Vet school (I don’t think I am smart enough), Financial field (hate Corporate America), Physical Therapy (Michigan market seems to be flooded with outsourcing agencies; job market does not seem to be stable), and working with animals (I would love to do this, but not enough pay).
If someone could offer some advice–any advice–I’d be grateful. Right now, I feel totally worthless and clueless. Or even if you are in the same position as I, please write back. I need to feel that I am not alone (misery loves company, I guess).
Is $10k Reasonable For Tuition For Massage Therapy?
I’m looking at going to the La James int’l college to do Massage Therapy, to become licensed here in iowa and be able to get jobs starting at $15 like my friends have gotten, but when i went there and got all the info, they told me it was about $10,000 to cover the 650 hour 6-month course, with free lifetime training to pass license renewals, and free lifetime job placement assistance. The $1500 of materials such as table and whatnot, are included in that $10k price tag.
I want a job that i enjoy, that has a strong job market, that i can make a career out of, perhaps expaning into the medical field to do physical therapy or other logical expansions upon this degree. Having a steady income is more important than having a large income. Having a low-stress job that i don’t tire of is important. I used to be a machinist, and could work overtime until i made $50k per year, but i hate everything about that job too much to return to it anymore, and my back has developed issues keeping me from doing that as well. I’m a 22 year old male in good health and physical condition, with a fiance abroad in college for the next 4 years, and have enjoyed doing massage all my life. I figure find a job doing what you enjoy, and you’ll never work another day in your life.
Any advice, opinions, etc? Thanks for input on this.
