I know this is particularly irrelevant, & i would not like to be labeled as only interested in vanity affairs, however I am curious about the routine of a woman in air force service.
I understand basic training must be tough if not physically fit, for men & women.
& I’m sure I should be having conversation with a recruit officer, before I type all these questions online, it’s just I’d like to talk to ordinary people, people not making a living from buttering me up, and jazzing every single sector of service training till it’s been manipulated into something it obviously will not be.
Just a few questions, and please feel free to interject with concerns, or additional, more relevant information. I’m glad to hear it all.
For one, what is it like to do your hair?
Have you found that it is much more convenient to chop it all off, because I am certainly willing to do so. My hair is of moderate to longer length, is full of body, but not overdominatingly wavy.
I sort of just toss my hair into some sort of a neat bun almost every day, however, I am aware in the air force, it must be tight and kept, & almost example of pure perfection. Do you learn to pin you bun up so well?
What about facial waxing, is there ever time after Basic Training to do so?
Do you really take showers with all those women?
& how upon meeting with your recruit officer do you know what career you’d prefer to choose.
I’m nineteen with one year of college under my belt. I am absolutely passionate about education. Embarrassingly enough, perhaps not passionate enough. I fell below the standards of the state grant that I earned, which is a 3.0 , and now I’m stuck in a bind with $14,000 to pay back the government. I really stuck it to myself. I want nothing more than self motivation, but I only think joining the force will align guidelines for me to tap into myself personally & extract the attributes which I happen to be so fond of.
If I had no other alternative but to choose today, my field of choice, it would be psychology ( Scientifically speaking, not clinical work )
Or something medically involved such as physical therapy.
Also wouldn’t mind working day in an out to become an optimotrist, podiatrist, or perhaps a dental assistant.
I might as well be fresh out of high school. I’ve taken many mandatory science classes, & although I cannot say I’m phenominal in the field, it thoroughly interests me. I willing to work harder than I’ve ever given myself credit to achieve possible.
Your comments would mean much to me, thanks.

They’re teased horribly. Women in the air force have to have nerves of steal because the men are going to harass them.

You are not getting into the military with $14,000 in debt. Sorry.

well 1st you have to take your asvab to see what jobs you qualify for.
as a woman you are not allowed to shave your hair all off. just has to sit right at neck line they will give you a proper cut while in basic training. you will not have a time to wax your facial hair but you may find time to pluck at night time (they wont allow wax in the dorm).
yes you will shower with 49 other women at different times.
the physical requirements are not impossible but you have to have a no quit attitude as with any branch of service
if you decide to join you will be able to finish school while in and get the gi bill to use when you separate. talk with the education counselors at your 1st permanent station
good luck with whatever way you choose to go

I was in the air force but i really cant say much about the basic experience for girls anyways since i had a brother flight not a sister flight. but i do believe they show you how to wear your hair and such and yes everybody takes public showers but really you are in such a hurry nobody cares anyways. and you would be surprised what kind of person the military makes you. and after you get through basic, tech school, and CDCs you can start attending college courses after work and its all payed for.

Talk to your recruiter about your debt. I know other military branches will not let you join if your debt is over a certain amount.
One of my good friends when through the airforce. The bootcamp was super rough for her, and she WAS physically fit. We got many phone calls crying and sad letters about how she wished she hadn’t joined. HOWEVER, three years later, and she LOVES it!! She stuck through it, and loved the schooling and the traveling. She’s currently doing operation work in Iraq for a year (yes, they DO go over there). She says it’s rough out there right now because at times shes scared, it’s hot, and it’s far away. Other than that, she got the schooling she wanted. She said the pay could be better though. I hope this helps, and do what is best for YOU!!!
