How Important Are Math Skills In A Physical Therapy Assistants Career?
Posted by admin in Careers in PT on December 31, 2009
As someone who teaches business math and has students in every single program, including medical-related, I can honestly say that math is used in virtually everything.
Will you use math when assisting patients with their PT exercises, no? But you’ll have to write a series of progress reports on such things as by what percent they improve and over how long a period of time.
You may also have to provide some stats on the number of patients you’ve handled, breaking them down into things like gender, age, income level, injury types, etc.
And if you begin to rise up the ladder and actually supervise others, you’ll have a number of performance ratios to do when it comes to job evals.
And if you have patients who are taking meds, you’ll have to know how various dosage levels can effect their performance and progress.

Information Re: Physical Therapy Education?
Hi, my husband is very interested in going back to school to become a physical therapist. We will be starting from scratch, meaning, he only has a high school education.
I am trying to find information online about what is required, costs, etc, but there are SO MANY websites with scattered information. I just really need some black-and-white “this is what it takes” info if there is any out there. Can anyone give me information or direct me to a website that can?
Also if anyone knows what kind of federal grants are available for someone furthering their education to this degree.
Thanks so much.

What Hospital Or Physical Therapy Clinic Works With The Houston Ballet?

According to their website: “Physical therapy works closely with HBII’s to assist in all injury assessments”. I used to dance and would love to work with dancers or at least get some observation hours with the physical therapists who work with the dancers. The website is vague about which doctors or hospitals work with them, only stating that doctors are involved with the dancers injuries and training.
